The October changes to Merge Tactics Season 11 are a correction patch, and they land on October 1st. Supers no longer get handed to you at the start: P.E.K.K.A, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Mega Knight and Monk all live in the shared pool where everyone competes for them. Add the reworked Boss Trait, a balance pass that reduces the power gap between high and low-cost troops, and one less Elixir per round, and the preparation phase becomes a genuine resource puzzle again.

Season Highlights

  • Monthly Supers are no longer assigned as a starting troop: they move to the shared pool for all players
  • You start every game with a random 2-Elixir troop again
  • Boss Trait returns reworked: bonus HP, and at HP below 50% it transforms into Stage 2 and scares off nearby enemies for 3s
  • October Supers are P.E.K.K.A, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Mega Knight and Monk: the September Rider Supers and Rider Trait are out
  • Boss Mask equipment (Equipped troop gains Boss Trait) enters Quest Orbs
  • Elixir earned each round drops from 5 back to 4; new Level 5 skins for Battle Machine and Dagger Duchess

Supers Go Shared Pool

The biggest structural change in the October update is that Supers are no longer assigned to you as a starting troop, so no one opens the game pre-committed to a Boss comp. Instead, P.E.K.K.A, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Mega Knight and Monk sit in the shared pool where every player can find and compete for any or all of them. That turns Supers from a dealt hand into a contested resource: if the lobby is scrapping over Mega Knight, pivoting to Clan, Noble, Goblin, Undead or Forest lines is the correct read. You also go back to starting with a random 2-Elixir troop, which restores the flexible early game the restrictive assigned-Super format removed.

The Reworked Boss Trait

Boss returns as a reworked Trait that grants bonus HP and, at HP below 50%, transforms the troop into Stage 2 while scaring off nearby enemies for 3s. That fear window is the real prize: it buys your frontline a reset exactly when it is about to break, which is why Boss wants to sit on your tank line rather than act as a backline bolt-on. Each Super has a distinct Stage 2 payoff: P.E.K.K.A gains lifesteal and Movement Speed, Mega Knight's hits knock back and stun the target, Monk periodically creates a shield that reflects damage and heals him, and Mini P.E.K.K.A steals energy from the ability bars of troops with abilities. Because the transformation is gated behind dropping under 50% HP, Boss comps actively want to take damage, which flips normal frontline protection logic.

Boss Mask and Equipment

Boss Mask, which gives the equipped troop the Boss Trait, becomes available in Quest Orbs in October alongside the Boss Trait's return. That is the cheapest route to putting the Boss Trait on a troop without winning the shared-pool fight for another Super, and it lets you convert an existing tank into a Stage 2 threat. There is also a clean bug fix: Equipment from Dagger Duchess will not be auto-equipped, just like other equipments, so you keep full control over which troop receives it.

Elixir Economy Squeeze

Elixir earned each round is being reduced from 5 back to 4, a direct response to the extra buying and selling that Season 11's wider build options encouraged. Every purchase and sale now carries more weight, so speculative buys and panic-selling a half-built merge are far more punishing than they were in September. Paired with the balance pass that reduces the power gap between high and low-cost troops at the same Merge Level, the tighter economy makes cheap, well-merged boards competitive instead of forcing you to chase expensive units. The stated goal is a more manageable preparation phase with more room to focus on strategy.

Modifiers and Progression

October ships two Modifiers per league across the full ladder, from Merge Training and Trait Training in Bronze I up to Jump Tile and Cursed Tile in Diamond, so your pool of swing effects depends entirely on where you sit. Battle Machine and Dagger Duchess both get new Level 5 skins, automatically granted to players who have already upgraded those Rulers to Level 5. Badge distribution changes when Season 11 ends on November 30, moving to Silver Badge for reaching Diamond League and Gold Badge for Top 10,000, and you can upgrade badges by hitting the same requirements in other seasons. Note these badge changes do not take effect in October.

Winners & Losers

The winners are flexible, cheap-to-mid comps: the balance pass narrowing the power gap between high and low-cost troops at the same Merge Level, plus the drop from 5 to 4 Elixir per round, means a tight Clan, Noble, Goblin, Undead or Forest board can hang with a Boss board. Boss is also a winner in the right hands, since the reworked Trait's 3s fear on dropping below 50% HP and Boss Mask in Quest Orbs give you two routes into Stage 2 power. The losers are anyone who built a strategy around being handed a Super for free, and the September Rider Supers (Prince, Dark Prince, Hog Rider, Ram Rider) along with the Rider Trait, which are simply gone from the October pool. Practically: plan your board around a random 2-Elixir opener, scout the shared pool before committing to P.E.K.K.A, Mini P.E.K.K.A, Mega Knight or Monk, and stop over-trading now that each round only pays 4 Elixir.
