Season 11 First Look
Merge Tactics Season 11 is a structural shake-up: a three-month ranked season starting September 1st, a brand new class of Super troops that cost five Elixir, a fresh Rider Trait, a longer Starsteel Road, and a long list of Troop reworks that read a lot like their Evolution versions from the main game.
This guide is built entirely on the first-look breakdown of the Season 11 teaser and the in-game news article. It covers the new season length and Diamond League requirement, the four Rulers you can unlock from Starsteel Road, how Supers and the Rider Trait work, the September and October Modifier and card pool changes, the five new pieces of equipment and the reworked quest orbs, plus the Echo Sage rework.
A Three-Month Ranked Season
The headline change is the season length. Merge Tactics Season 11 starts on September 1st and runs for three months, the line the video reacts to hardest in the whole teaser. Instead of everything resetting every month, the season keeps rolling and only the content inside it rotates.
- Three-month season: the ranked season runs September 1st through December 1st with no monthly resets.
- Monthly rotation continues: Troops, Traits and Modifiers still rotate every month, so the card pool stays fresh even though the season does not reset.
- Diamond League moved up: the Diamond League requirement goes from 3,000 to 4,000 Star Steel.
- Emotes are being added, including a Balloon emote the video singles out as the one it likes most.
Key insight: the higher Diamond League bar reads as fair precisely because the season is three months long: you simply have far more rounds to climb than in a one-month sprint.
Starsteel Road And Ruler Cards
Starsteel Road is getting an extension to match the longer season, and that directly changes how many Rulers a free-to-play player can unlock.
- More steps, more rewards: the extended road runs the full three months, from September 1st to December 1st, with no monthly reset.
- Four Rulers instead of two: you can earn and unlock Royal King, Elixir Loon,
Battle Machine and
Dagger Duchess, where previously only two Ruler cards were up for grabs. - More Star Steel means more Ruler cards, so the climb itself is what feeds your Ruler collection.
Pro tip: this is called out as the best free-to-play change in the update. Doubling the number of obtainable Rulers widens your comp options for every future season, not just this one.
Supers And The Rider Trait
Supers are the new headline mechanic. A Super is a powered-up five Elixir version of a regular Troop with two different abilities, each of which unlocks once you meet its requirement. Four Supers are randomly assigned to each player at battle start and are then sold for Elixir.
September's Supers are Hog Rider, Ram Rider, Prince and Dark Prince, and they all share the brand new Rider Trait. The video links the lineup to the old Riders synergy from Clash Mini, while admitting it is not certain the trait will work the same way here.
How Supers Scale
- Second ability at four stars:
Rider Super troops upgrade when they reach four stars, unlocking their upgraded effect.
Dark Prince: his shield blocks all damage until broken, and on combat start he charges the nearest enemy for double damage and stuns surrounding enemies. At four stars he is immune to control and reflects damage while shielded.
Hog Rider: on combat start he leaps forward and summons an earthquake that damages enemies and slows their hit and movement speed. At four stars the earthquake lasts the whole round.
Ram Rider: her attacks slow the target's movement speed, and on combat start she charges through the arena damaging and knocking back enemies in her path. At four stars her snare traps the target, disabling hits and movement.
Prince: on combat start he charges the nearest enemy for bonus damage and knocks it back. At four stars the charge knocks the target out of the arena.
The Rider Trait
- Rider awakens the tiles its units touch, granting allies on those tiles bonus hit and movement speed.
- That makes Rider a board-position Trait: where your Riders travel matters, not just which units you field.
The video's read: these Supers behave less like normal Troops and more like heroes, with four-star effects that echo existing power spikes such as Monk's reflect or Echo Sage's knockout.
Troop Reworks And Modifiers
A long list of Troops is being reworked, and the recurring observation is that most of them read like their Evolution versions from the main game. The Troop pool also updates monthly.
- Barbarian: after a few hits he gains bonus hit and movement speed for the rest of the round.
- Archer: after a few hits her arrows deal bonus damage for the rest of the round.
Valkyrie: after a few hits she starts spinning and damages surrounding enemies for the rest of the round.
Knight: every few seconds he taunts all enemies in range, forcing them to attack him for 2 seconds, which the video compares directly to the Clash Mini Knight.
Princess: fires arrows at the farthest enemy for area damage, and every few hits that area damage slows enemy hit and movement speed.
Royal Giant: every few hits he knocks surrounding enemies back one hex.- Spear
Goblin: throws a spear and sells for bonus Elixir, increasing with Merge level, flagged in the video as an economy tool. - Dark Goblin: after a few hits his attacks poison the target for damage based on max HP, stacking up to five times.
Goblin Cage: cages the nearest enemy, dealing damage over time while the cage loses HP. When destroyed, the enemy and a Goblin
Brawler are released into the arena.
Bomber: throws a bomb that explodes in a 2x radius, and every few hits the bomb bounces onward, dealing damage on each landing.
Baby Dragon: burps fireballs for area damage, with each attack granting bonus hit and movement speed to allies within two hexes.- One reworked sniping Troop (name not shown on screen) snipes the farthest enemy in a 6-hex radius three times, dealing bonus damage and briefly stunning the target.
Modifiers
- Bronze League gets six training Modifiers.
- Royale River returns, bringing restorative river tiles into play alongside Merge Tactics' own version of king and princess towers.
- Merge Mini returns: your shop gives you only five Troops, and deployed Troops stay locked in place until they are merged.
- Lucky Discount is back in the September rotation.
Equipment And Quest Orbs
Ruler quests are being tweaked, with five new pieces of equipment added to tier two and three quest orbs. There is also a rules change that will catch people out.
- Legendary Shield: the equipped Troop is immune to damage and control and knocks back attackers. The video assumes there has to be some kind of charge limit, because permanent immunity would make rounds unlosable.
- Legendary Lance: the equipped Troop's first hit knocks the target out of the arena.
- Legendary Axe: the equipped Troop pulls in enemies around the target and deals area damage, compared in the video to a tornado effect.
- Rider Emblem: grants the Rider synergy to the equipped Troop.
Boss Mask: arrives in October alongside the Boss Supers and grants the Boss synergy the same way.
⚠️ Equipment is no longer auto-assigned to battle. You must manually assign equipment to Troops during the deployment phase. If a piece is left on the bench, it stays there for the round.
Quest Orb Changes
- Quest one orb: three Elixir or random equipment. The video calls the Elixir value a huge nerf that will hurt Elixir-hungry play across the board.
- Quest two orb: six Elixir or random equipment, still an either-or choice.
- Quest three orb: plus one team size, or plus one three-star Troop for four or five Elixir. The video would take the Troop, since it gives you a body you can push toward four stars.
- Extra trait equipment appears to be back, though from what is visible it looks limited to
Undead, potentially allowing a six out of six Undead board without the Skeleton
Dragon.
Pro tip: treat the deployment phase as an active checklist now. An unassigned Legendary Shield or Rider Emblem sitting on the bench is a wasted round.
October Boss Supers Preview
October swaps the Rider Supers for Boss Supers, which use a different upgrade condition: Boss troops upgrade to stage two when their HP drops below 50%.
Mega Knight: stage one jumps on enemies every few seconds for area damage and a stun. Stage two makes each hit knock back and stun the target.
P.E.K.K.A: every few hits her swing strikes all enemies in a line. Stage two adds life steal and movement speed.
Mini P.E.K.K.A: cooks a pancake that levels up a random ally every few hits. Stage two lets attacks steal energy from the target's ability bar, which the video links back to a Clash Mini mechanic.
Monk: every third hit knocks the target back. Stage two creates a shield every few hits that reflects damage and heals him.- Boss trait rework: gains bonus HP, and dropping below 50% HP transforms the unit into stage two, scaring off nearby enemies for 3 seconds.
Echo Sage Rework
- Once per round the echo charges, knocks out the target and surrounding enemies, then vanishes for the round.
- The video is unsure how strong this ends up being since it is a single knockout, but expects the splash to still matter at four stars.
Take on Monk: pushing his signature reflect back to stage two is a needed correction, because the unit was fundamentally broken in its previous form.
Key Units & Traits
- Hog Rider: September Super whose combat-start earthquake slows enemy hit and movement speed, lasting the whole round at four stars.
- Ram Rider: Super that slows on hit and charges through the arena, gaining a full disabling snare at four stars.
- Prince: Reworked Super that charges for bonus damage and knocks the target out of the arena at four stars.
- Dark Prince: Shielded Super that stuns on the charge and becomes control-immune with damage reflect at four stars.
- Rider: New trait: tiles Riders touch are awakened, granting allies on them bonus hit and movement speed.
Echo Sage: Reworked Ruler: once per round the echo knocks out a target and surrounding enemies, then vanishes for the round.- Monk: October Boss Super whose reflect-and-heal shield is now gated behind stage two, below 50% HP.
- Dagger Duchess: One of four Rulers unlockable from the extended Starsteel Road this season.
TL;DR
- ✅ Season 11 runs three months from September 1st with no monthly resets, while Troops, Traits and Modifiers still rotate monthly.
- ✅ Starsteel Road is extended and now offers four Rulers: Royal King, Elixir Loon, Battle Machine and Dagger Duchess.
- ✅ Supers are five Elixir powered-up Troops randomly assigned at battle start, with a second ability that unlocks at four stars.
- ✅ The new Rider Trait awakens tiles, giving allies standing on them bonus hit and movement speed.
- ✅ Five new equipment pieces arrive: Legendary Shield, Legendary Lance, Legendary Axe, Rider Emblem, plus Boss Mask in October.
- ⚠️ Equipment is no longer auto-assigned: anything left on the bench during deployment does nothing for that round.
- ❌ The quest one orb now gives only three Elixir, a significant economy nerf.
Season 11 looks like the most content-dense update Merge Tactics has had: a three-month ranked climb, double the Ruler rewards on Starsteel Road, an entirely new Super system built around the Rider Trait, and a wave of Troop reworks that push familiar cards toward Evolution-style ceilings. The free-to-play upside alone makes this worth logging in for. The two things to watch are the quest one orb Elixir nerf and the manual equipment assignment rule: both punish autopilot play, so treat the deployment phase as an active decision from day one.
