Merge Tactics Season 11 Balance: Ruler Quests and Trait Nerfs
Merge Tactics Season 11 balance changes rework Ruler quest objectives, speed up the hit requirement on four core Troops, and cut the Clan, Undead and Rider Trait bonuses.

The September 8th balance update is a corrective patch for Merge Tactics Season 11, and it hits the levers that decide games: Ruler quests, Super Troop durability, and Trait breakpoints. Grand Warden and Royale King get quests they can actually complete, while Spirit Empress pays for her run at the top of the leagues. Clan, Undead and Rider all lose value at the same time, so the boards that felt automatic last week need rebuilding.
Patch Highlights
- Grand Warden and Royale King quest objectives lowered
- Spirit Empress quest objectives raised at the middle tier after dominating top leagues
- Archer, Barbarian, Dart Goblin and Valkyrie reach their hit requirement faster
- Baby Dragon's ally Hit and Movement Speed buff reduced, hardest at lower Merge Levels
- Super Dark Prince and Super Hog Rider lose Hitpoints, with Super Hog Rider's Earthquake Damage cut at higher Merge Levels
- Clan, Undead and Rider Trait bonuses all reduced
Ruler Quest Rebalance
Grand Warden's quest targets were judged too demanding and difficult to achieve, so his objectives have been lowered to make him a more competitive option. Royale King gets the same treatment for a different reason: his quest paid out too late, and the reduced early objectives are meant to let him stabilize sooner after losing streaks. Spirit Empress moves the other way, with a raised middle objective aimed at her continued dominance in the top leagues, which should let other Rulers catch up.
Hit Requirement Buffs
Archer, Barbarian, Dart Goblin and Valkyrie all see their hit-count requirement lowered across the board. The stated problem was that the requirement was taking too long to reach, which meant the power spike was inconsistent. The developers now expect these four to activate their spike more consistently each round, making them far more dependable pieces in Season 11 comps.
Super Troop Nerfs
Super Dark Prince loses Hitpoints because he was not fragile enough for the value he provides, so a board that focuses him can now bring him down more easily. Super Hog Rider takes a harder hit: reduced Hitpoints plus an Earthquake Damage cut that bites hardest at higher Merge Levels, since he was overpowering there and survived for too long after the jump. He is still intended to be a strong opener, but he should no longer decide the round on his own. Baby Dragon also drops, with his ally Hit and Movement Speed buff trimmed most sharply at lower Merge Levels so he supports the team without being an auto-pick.
Clan, Undead and Rider Traits
The Clan Trait loses Bonus HP at all three breakpoints because the Hit Speed burst stacked on top of the healing was overperforming: it is now meant to be a sustainable Trait rather than a damage dealer. Undead's HP and Damage increase at the six-Undead breakpoint is reduced, so a full Undead team should still be strong without being considered unbeatable. Rider sees its Hit and Movement Speed on Awakened Tiles cut hardest at the low Rider counts, deliberately flattening the early power spike while the top breakpoint is untouched.

Winners and Losers
The clear winners are Grand Warden and Royale King, whose easier quests make them real contenders, plus the Archer, Barbarian, Dart Goblin and Valkyrie package that now reaches its hit requirement far more consistently. The losers are stacked: Spirit Empress, Baby Dragon, Super Dark Prince, Super Hog Rider, and the Clan, Undead and Rider Traits all lost value in the same patch. Splashing one or two Riders for a cheap early buff is no longer worth the slot, and Clan boards need to be built as sustain rather than damage engines. Full Undead is still playable but no longer the default answer, and Super Hog Rider should be treated as an opener you follow up on, not a finisher. Build around the buffed hit-requirement Troops and the newly viable Rulers, and stop paying a premium for Baby Dragon.
